“The Maine Song” or “Love Song For Maine”
July 29, 2011 - Portland, ME @ The State Theatre
opening for Beirut

Aly pre-show:
Tonight is the most special show of my life. If you’d told me eight years ago when I saw my first state theater show that I’d be scream-singing on that stage one day I would have punched you out by way of reflex-disbelief. So honored and so excited. Everyone I adore in one room.
Aly the day after:
As predicted: last night was the greatest night of my career so far. I am so grateful to everyone at the state theater last night and all of you who couldn’t be in Maine but sent your love. I am also grateful to be from Maine and so honored to represent it as I explore more and more of the world. All my love.

a moment here to remark on how fucking amazing lady lamb the beekeeper was. couldn’t source any fantastic photos, but she fucking FLOORED the crowd at both shows, sounding like a cross between billy bragg, janis joplin, bright eyes, neutral milk hotel, and something from another planet….hopefully we’ll see more of her.
